a HUGE event is happening in Austin Heights!!!!
its the seventh lunar month and every time this year, Austin Heights committee will be arranging and will be planning a HUGE "PO Tor" event.
where they will be collecting money from those house units which are willing to join in and "pray" to the "VIPs" together.
.
our family has been joining in for the 3rd time this year.
.
first time i am actually there to experience the whole thing this year.
.
we reached there around 4.30pm that late afternoon so that we could help to fold the "money" or "gold".
.

we had a table to ourselves as we reached there quite early and we started to fold.

.

MeiMei was there tooo!
.

we fetched MeiMei from her shop (junk junkies) so that she could come and join the event together because actually this "praying" is also to hope that the "VIPs" or "好兄弟" could look after us and hope that everything we do will be successful or good or smoothly.

.

MeiMei is actually quite busy because she is rushing a board that says "For Rent" because she is going to leave Junk Junkies already.

.

she found a job at DHL as she was confirmed the next day after she went for the interview.

.

after we bought degree, my sister seems to be more 懂事 and she wants to earn more money so that she can keep the apartment so that she can live in it.

.

she came to my company for interview and was successful but MOM rejected her EP application with the reason that we should try to find Singaporean to fill up the position instead of a foreigner. so, MOM is seriously trying to cut down the dependant on foreign workers. shortly after MOM rejected, even tho my company sent in an appeal, while waiting for the outcome of the appeal, a Singaporean Aunty came for an interview and as purchasing seriously needs staff, they confirmed her.

we thought we were going to head to work together.

so sad that we couldnt do that.

.

we were very disappointed.

.

WHO KNOWS?????

.

a few days later, i was browsing thru the facebook updates and i saw KY posting on his status that DHL is looking for staff and the pay looks quite good for a job in Malaysia. so i quickly informed sis and she went for the interview really soon.

.

there she is!!! confirmed for DHL and will be working for DHL the following Monday. SO FAST! everything just took a change and then another change and now she is going to move to Tun Aminah and stay with grandma because Grandma's place is closer to her workplace. it was soo fast!

.

therefore it is even important to be present for the "Po Tor" event so that "they" can bless her on her new job and hopefully all will fall in place and hope everything will be good for her as this is her ever FIRST office job that she is doing.

Mummy is folding a really simple 元宝 and daddy is folding this really complicated 元宝 that requires 2 pieces of "money" that he learnt to do at the temple. he claimed that it was really simple but i didnt want to learn because that is soooo SLOW and we have so many to fold.

as time passes by, more and more people arrives and all helped to get the "money" and fold and there were more and more bags of "money" that were folded.

it was impossible to finish folding everything because there were tooo many!! so when it was time to burn the "money", those that were not folded will just be thrown into "furnace" to be burnt.

.

this is what i mean by people will be throwing the "money" on top of those that were folded. those that we folded were all poured into this huge "basket" for the base.

Austin Heights gathers together to celebrate this once in a year event to pray that everything will be smooth and most importantly to bless everybody with good health.

this "basket" is getting bigger and bigger every single year as more and more people moved into Austin Heights as more of its houses are completed.

he is the person that made Austin Heights possible and brought our estate area as well as his development company to great fame in JB! Austin Heights was a great success!

he is a very respectable man. he is now a Datuk already and everyone calls him Datuk. he is very humble and he even attends all this events together with us.

we sat at the same table and a few Aunty came and join us together since we've got space at our table. of course we started chatting since we are at the same table. along the chit chatting, We found out that the Aunty sitting right beside me was actually the lady boss of the BBQ Duck that we loves to patronize in Johor Jaya! Wow!!!! What a small world. The lady boss found my mum and sister very familiar and finally asked. She remembered my mum and sister because there was once when mummy and sis and Ting went to her shop and ordered one whole duck and finished everything there. which was why she remembered as she was shocked when saw them finished one whole duck. bear in mind that my brother is still very young that time so he couldnt eat much too but they finished one whole duck. HAHA!

what a small world.

it was a great bonding session when you meet neighbours from the same estate and learn about each others' life. you will smile to each other when you pass by each other the next time. what a fine estate that i live in.
