this actually happened 2 weeks ago..
went for a treasure hunt organised by the alumnis of Foon Yew High..
had the chance to go because SuanChing's friend backed out at the very last minute..
she asked me along..
and i asked dearest Doreen along..
didnt have chance to upload the photos and update 2 weeks ago..
and i was waiting to get the more PRo photos from Ken..
haha...
here goes..
.
.
.
Saturday - Sunday, 17-18 May 2008
just one week before my last day with Celeste..
on that long weekend (Fri-Mon)..
that Sat & Sun was the treasure hunt..
Friday..
fetched doreen from her home after she packed her things..
then fetched the rest at SuanChing's house..
and everybody spent the night at my house..
since my mum was away for business trip again..
then we woke up pretty early..
like 5.30-6am..
slept around 2am on Friday..
i almost couldnt pull myself up..
but with outsiders around.
didnt want to throw face..
so in the end i woke up and got ready..
then we went for breakfast at the Mamak near SuanChing's house..
had prata and drinks..
before we headed for the meeting point..
whoever arrives first will get to leave the place first..
we arrived pretty early but still not the earliest..
apparently..
many ppl had breakfast at the Tea Garden which was designated for our meet up..
it was too expensive for us..
=P
so we had the time to take pictures and this was NOT BAD!
managed to squeeze all 5 of us in although it was zi pai!!
and we were given 2 bottles of mineral water and a pack of tidbits for EACH PERSON..
it has many choices of tidbits in one bag.. but... i am not a person that loves tidbits..
but its ok.. i will just give it to the kids at Gong's house..
haa.
but.. the KK blocked the car number..
so we requested the guy to retake the picture again..
thanks to the photographer..
although i cant be seen..
can see pretty Doreen.. =)
the clues and answer sheet booklet..
we read the clues and tried to figure out the meaning..
arrived at the next point safely..
of course.. we were still energetic.. and still have time to take picture!!
my god.. it was not easy at all..
it took us some time to complete this station... before we decided to proceed to the next station..
at the next station.. we were already a bit tired because of the SHINY SUNSHINE.. therefore. not many photos after that.. all were perspiring that we looked so ugly.. haha.. and NO TIME to take pictures.. we had to be FAST in order to clear the first half...
note: there are 2 parts in the treasure hunt.. the first half and the second half..we submit the answers to the first half at the station Master and then we were given the clues for the second part.
and we drove past the seaside area... very nice..!!!
actualy along the way for the treasure hunt.. we didnt use the highway.. we used the so-called OLD ROAD all the way and the view was really nice and more challenging to drive..
challenging because of all the turns, uphills, downhills, and most challenging is the overtaking of the cars..
why OVERTAKE?
because.. its just one lane for each directions (because it is OLD ROAD & not highway/expressway).. so in order to be faster.. we need to overtake those slower vehicles in the front..
it takes some skills to drive on old road because we have to be alert and making sure that we have sufficient space to overtake so that we do not CRASH into the car coming from the opposite direction..
really CHALLENGING TO DRIVE..
and using the old road.. we have so many pretty views.. all the sceneries of Kampung Area to be seen..
look at the beach and sea where we drove past...!!
kindest doreen helped to take a picture of me.. with the beach. even when i was driving.. haha.. THANKS..
arrived at the very last area for the hunt.. but also.. we were really Tired.. and Sticky...
and we were so tight on the time left before we need to submit the answers for the second half..
we didnt do well at this very last area...
i am amazed that i still possess the energy to make an ugly face and taking photo with the clues for the 2nd part of the hunt.. realy amazing.. haha..
look at my face! red.. from all the exposure to the blazing sun..
our finishing point is to submit the answers for the 2nd part at the HOTEL GRAND CONTINENTAL.. yes.. the name sounds a bit good...
but actually the hotel.. not that high class as i have imagined but it is still not bad.. because our room is quite BIG..
and the HUGE beds.. haha... toilet is very normal.. so no pics taken..
one of the view from our room... the view of Kuantan.. which is like 7hours away from JB...
we played the game of treasure hunt and made our way here.. made it all the way here.. to Kuantan.. really a very far away place from JB..
the very tired me.. camwhoring with my SE phone as my nails matched the phone..
yes.. she had the privilege to sit beside me all the time when i was driving.. however..she was unfortunately made the treasurer.. but she diligently kept record of all our petrol and food expenses.. SO GOOD!!
THANK U so MUCHIE!
Sis HongZi and I.. we were saying that we will never come back to the treasure hunt again.. haha..
on Sunday morning.. we didnt have to wake up too early...
went to the function room where we can have our breakfast as well as the award ceremony..
and the fish above.. is actually the famous salted fish from Kuantan.. goes really well with the Nasi Lemak that was served to us for our breakfast.. of course there were other choices but Doreen and i felt that the Nasi Lemak was the BEST! =)
and during the award ceremony.. i was pretty alert and seems to be able to catch the camera...
making ugly faces again...
trying very hard to be seen from far... haha... =P
and when we finally had the chance to have the camera to US.. i didnt do well!! my god.. can i open my eyes please... haha...
and of course... our group didnt win anything at all..
after the group photo taken at the function room..
we went back to our rooms to pack things..
and then we were supose to check out and return back home..
however...
there were plans to go visit a few other places in Kuantan before we return home..
we agreed to go along...
so we checked out and waited for those that were interested to go..
look at the trees on both sides of the road... creating a natural shelter from the sun for all the vehicles beneath..beautiful!
one of the advantages of using the old road.. we will come across roads like this where we can never see from highway....
only one lane on each side of the road for 2-way directions..
but the scenery for old road is really good..
it is also more dangerous but more interesting to drive..
=)
we were on our way to Lembing when we saw one of the Mini Club driving past us from the opposite direction...
this is the water-mark left behind after the flood..
it is even taller than a man already!!
it is that serious!
this is the current view of the first floor at the building..
where the old folks gather together to sing Karaoke etc...
.
.
.
the first floor of the building was actually flooded.. totally flooded.. just like in this photo just a few months ago...
the whole downtown was flooded...
my gosh..
breathtaking...
we went to visit and walked the hanging bridge across one of the rivers at Lembing area.. it is so nice right??
it is for the villagers that stayed across the river... wow... very interesting..
the view from the bridge... this is the Kampung area for the chinese community... so peaceful...
my pretty model.. Doreen took the bridge..
so nice right???
actually..
i took the bridge too..
but halfway thru..
the people who walked together..
whom was also together with the treasure hunt thing..
some of them started to shake the bridge..
alright.. the bridge was held with strong bars..
i had no doubt about the holding strength of the bridge..
however...
the people really SHAKED the bridge..
which means..
more than one person is shaking..
and they are PURPOSELY shaking the bridge to scare people...
my god...
is it that fun to scare people!!
i was pissed off...
it was really scary to me..
there were so many others like me..
who shouted to stop the shaking...
but they carried on to shake..
THAT WAS IT..
i walked back to the starting end and refused to walk to the other side..
they can think whatever they want to think of me but to me.. it was really OVER and i had ENOUGH..
if not..
i really wanted so much to walk through the bridge..
this was the only regret for me..
.
.
.
nevermind about that..
its all over..
no point thinking about it..
anyway..
i didnt carry the angerness for long..
so we went ahead with the next destination..
we went to a Kampung house..
where the uncle has many, many, many crystals..
which was said to be also a kind of Fengshui item right..??
on our way back.. we saw this petrol kiosk at downtown...
we dont see any petrol stations at Lembing.. so is this the only one which they use for their bikes and cars??
then who will the customers pay to??
maybe one of the shopowners owns it..??
.
.
.
then.. we went to visit a cave... the last destination before we make our way back home..
a photo taken by ken when he and Suanching climbed up the hill... to the cave.. there was actually a temple inside the cave..
the steep and seem-so-dangerous stairs.. however.. everybody who climbed.. seems to be doing it quite well.
Doreen and I didnt go up because we didnt want to.. since it doesnt look very interesting and we were really lazy to climb the all the way up...
and to us.. i think we were happy that we made the decision not to go up because the people that went up.. came down perspiring like there's no tomorrow..
it was really hot..because it was really not easy..
lucky i didnt go up because i didnt want to make myself too tired as i still have to drive for 7 hours back home..
driving in a state of stickiness will really make myself really uncomfortable..
so we were glad that we made the right deicision..
nevertheless.. those that climbed.. i believe they have seen the amazing beauty of the temple inside the cave and the many people who made all the effort to climb up.. they will be blessed.. =)
Doreen with the huge mountain which has a cave and a temple inside the cave..
.
.
then we made our way back home..
but stopped for dinner at Segamat...
sent Doreen back home before i made my way home..
tired till i drop at my bed when i reached home and SLEPT.... =P
